Grand Mosque of Cotabato is the largest mosque in the Philippines. And this is also one of my favorite destination in Mindanao. It’s grand and elegance will drop you jaw into a sink hole especially if you get inside the mosque. You will see the rich culture and architectural excellence of our brothers in Islam.

The Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Masjid, also known as the Grand Mosque of Cotabato, is the largest mosque in the Philippines. The mosque is located in Barangay Kalanganan in Cotabato City, and was funded by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam at a reported cost of US$48 million.[2]

The Sultan Of Brunei, funded the construction of this mosque with his own personal money to help the emerging Muslim population in the Southern Philippines.

  1. The country’s largest mosque is also its most beautiful. Officially called Sultan Haji Hassanal Bookish Masjid, it was built with the help of the Sultan of Brunei to the tune of $48million. The result is majestic structure located in Cotabato City’s Barangay Kalanganan (accessible by jeep and habal2x from downtown), with golden domes and lofty minarets. A must visit when in Cotabato City.

2. How can I describe the magnificence of this place? It is beyond words so you really have to see it for yourself.

The place is clean, the people are very nice and the architecture is so beautifully done.

If you are going to this Mosque, you should visit it at daytime and when almost sunset to appreciate its beauty.

Your Cotabato trip would not be complete if you skip this.

As for the attire, to show respect, male and female visitors should wear long pants and long shirts.

During their time of prayer, we were allowed to be outside the mosque and take pictures as the sun sets.

3. If you will visit Cotabato City, don’t forget to visit this mosque. One of the best views in Cotabato City. Will make you feel like you are in another country. You can enter the gates anytime, just ask the caretaker, but the visit is restricted only to the ground and outside the mosque.

Blogger quotes:

Every angle of this place  is an art and you will truly feel the presence of solemnity and peace. My experience here is truly amazing with warm emotion.

Overall this place is a must place to see. So tara na at punta na tayo sa Grand Mosque.

It is located at Barangay Kalanganan Dos, Cotabato City, 2-3 kilometers away from the city’s Husky Bus Terminal.

From the down town area, you ride a jeepney (Highway-Awang route) for only Php12 . When you reach the Husky Bus Terminal, you take the motorcycle going to the mosque.

There’s also a taxi services which you can hire from Cotabato city to its surrounding area which cost 300 to 500 pesos.
