Viper Peak of Toril

Viper Peak in Toril is one of the most popular hiking destination in Davao City. Due to its proximity and uncomplicated trail, a lot of trail runner from Davao region come to this place for recreational and exercise. It’s also the twin of Grassland “The New Zealand” of Toril in terms of popularity and proximity between the two places.

We used the Banas 2 trail by using Bato Elementary School as our jump point. We decided to walk the place to the jump point since some of my friends told me that the path heading to Grassland have big towers and worth to take photos for your social media account. It’s indeed beautiful…

After 30 minutes walked, it’s time to settle the case because we knew we were lost already. But don’t worry it’s just our experience. Just straight ahead and you will see a house that looks liked a farm house with goats, pigs, and chicken around it. Then you will see a trail heading to Grassland.

The trail from Grassland to Viper was no sweat at all thanks to the person who guided us since he had to go back to Viper Peak coming from Grassland. It took us 25 minutes walked and to be honest its more tiring compare to the Jump point to Grassland. I guess it’s because its kind a steep and the heat was a little bit harsh.

When we already at Viper Peak. We seat on its popular kawayan bench at the entry point if Viper Peak with the poster beside it. They have mini store if you want to buy some foods like coffee, milk, bottled water, bread, and other typical inato food.

Basically Viper Peak is just a simple “Bukid” life experience and best spot for hikers and even bikers. You can also go to series of waterfalls in Viper Peak.

How to get to Viper Peak:

From Davao City, you can ride jeeney or bus heading to Toril Mecury Drug. Mercury Drug Toril is kinda popular since it is also the landmark if you want to go to Eden Garden Resort, Battlefield Tamayong, Loleng’s, and other tourist spot in Toril.  From Mercury Toril, you can hire a motorcyle heading to Bato Elementary School. From Bato Elem. School, you can walk straight to Viper Peak via Grassland. You can also go straight to Viper Peak but it’s kinda steep and its more recommendable to people who have own motorcycle.
